This presentation will focus on how loss and grief can act as the driving force into crime and imprisonment and prevent the reintegration of those leaving prison.

Participants will learn the importance of valuing Australian (1788), English & European history as being the cause of inter-generational suppressed, unresolved grief and how it has compounded, and complicated contemporary Aboriginal people’s losses and suppressed unresolved grief.

Participants will learn the importance of valuing a ‘loss and grief trauma informed model’ that will explain how and why Aboriginal young people and adults experience the justice system however the same ‘loss and grief trauma informed model’ can be used to prevent Aboriginal young people and adults experiencing the justice system and or recidivism.
